So I'd like to start posting info on the women featured in issue 1. Michiko Kitamura is a costume designer/fashion stylist who's been active in the Japanese film industry since the mid-80's. Her radical sense of mixing traditional Japanese culture with the avant-garde stands out among the visual artists of the country, enveloping the audience with its beauty and sensuality.
And furthermore, she is a truly punk-spirited woman who totally disses the fake attitude and pretentiousness of the Japanese society and film industry, for the sake of pursuing true creativity and art......this issue covers part 1 of the intense conversation I had with her this summer.
